The Independent Publishing House Alexandria Press was established on the
1st of September 1999 in Belgrade, Serbia. The work of the publishing
house is a continuation of activities which were started by the publishing
of the magazine Biblioteka Alexandria. The magazine was started on the
9th of April 1998, as a special edition of Dusan Velickovic and the Vreme
magazine. On the 11th of November 2002 Alexandria Press founded Independent
Video for production of a series of short artistic and experimental movies
called "Books & Movies". Alexandria Press and Biblioteka
Alexandria are actively advocating the values of civil society and for
the principles of equal opportunity for everyone regardless of ethnic
origin, religious affiliation, race and gender.
